El profesor E.F. Kevan, consciente de la necesidad de clarificar los conceptos de Ley, Evangelio, Obras y Fe—ofuscados por el antinomianismo, el dispensacionalismo extremo y el modernismo--, ha prestado un excelente servicio a la Iglesia de nuestra época al escribir su libro The Evangelical Doctrine of the Law, del cual la presente traducción española ofrece un resumen. El profesor Kevan nos recuerda que la Ley no se opone al Evangelio, sino que es una preparación al mismo. Apoyado, por un lado, en la mejor exégesis del pasado (son frecuentes sus citas de autores puritanos y de los mejores teólogos reformados) y trabajando, al mismo tiempo, sobre la base de la moderna investigación escriturística, logra demostrar que si bien la perfecta ley es la del amor, este amor presupone necesariamente una ley que sea la expresión eterna del carácter y la exigencias de Dios, de Dios que nos ha dicho que es amor. Y que, asimismo, es soberano.

Kevan, aware of the need to clarify the concepts of law, gospel, works and faith-concepts that have been obscured by antinomianism, extreme dispensationalism and modernism - has provided an excellent service to the Church of our time with his book, The Evangelical Doctrine of the Law. This Spanish translation is a summary of that work. Professor Kevan reminds us that the law is not opposed to the Gospel, but is a preparation for it. Supported on the one hand by the best exegesis of the past (he frequently cites Puritan authors and the best Reformed theologians) and based at the same time, on modern scriptural research, this book shows that while the perfect law is love, this love necessarily implies a law that is the eternal expression of the nature and demands of God, the God who has told us that He is love, and is also, sovereign.
